Ihis identure witnesseth that Edwin Exon superindentant of the Protestant Orphan Asylum Emerald Hill doth with the consent and by the direction of the committee thereof put Francis Naylor Jennings apprentice to James Richards and the said Francis Naylor Jennings doth put himself apprentice to James Richards to learn the business of a carpenter and builder an after the manner of an apprentice serve from the nineteenth day of April one thousand eighthundred and sixty four until the full term of six years from thence next following to be fully complete and ended during which term the said Francis Naylor Jennings his said master faithfully shall and will serve and his lawful commands everywhere gladly do to the best of his power and will not from the service of his said master day or night absent himself but in all things as as faithful and honest apprenctice shall and will demean and behave himmself towards his master and all his family during said term. And the said James Richards doth hereby covenant with the said Edwin Exon and the said Francis Naylor Jennings that he the same James Richards shall teach and instruct or cause to be taught and instructed after the best way and manner he can in the trade or business of carpenter and builder finding and allowing unto the said Francis Naylor Jennings board lodging and washing and also paying and allowing unto the said Francis Naylor Jennings remuneration for his services as follows For the first year of his aprenticeship 1 shilling per week second one shilling per week third one shilling per week fourth five shillings per week fifth seven shilings and sixpence per week sixth ten shillings per week and also clothing the said Francis Naylor Jennings for the first four years of apprenticeship and it is hereby covenanted by and between the parties hereto that this indenture is subject to and shall be deemed to include the forth fifth and eighth Bye-laws of the asylum regulating the admission and removal of children.
